By this time next week, my sister's wedding will have come and gone. We are preparing last minute details, and this wedding photographed by Jill Thomas just came up as last minute inspiration.
The flawless make-up is what caught my eye. The soft lip color contrasts with her porcelain skin and night-sky hair. My sister particularly loves the bride's loose curls. Can anyone recommend the best way to get this look? 2-inch curling iron? Hot curlers? Help!

To get loose curls, I dry my roots and then let the rest of my hair dry in velcro rollers. That way they have body and some curl. Then I use a 1 1/2 inch curling iron (that's all I've got, 2 might work better) to curl it. Hope that helps!

Hot rollers might be too much of a curl. It really depends on how well your sister's hair holds a curl, but I think the curling iron would be your best bet.

How pretty and quirky! My dear friend is using grey in her wedding scheme, so I'll be sure to send her this!
I have thick hair that's pretty good at holding a curl. I would recommend using a 1- 1.5" curling iron. This winds the curls tighter than a 2" iron. That way if the curls drop (due to humidity), the hair doesn't end up wavy. You could also alternate layers between 2" and 1" so the curls don't look as uniform. I would also blow dry hair till it's bone dry. Use a round bristle brush, pulling down, to straighten as you dry. Blowing it dry removes all the moisture from the hair and helps minimize frizziness. Make sure you try it out before the big day! Good luck!!

I just found your blog a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it.
About the hair...mine's not quite as long, but I can kind of get the loose curl look by using a 2" curling iron. Take the iron and put it close to your scalp with a section of hair that you want to curl. Put the barrel at the start of the hair (right next to your head) and then wrap your hair around the barrel. You have to hold the hair by the ends to keep it wrapped around while you're letting it get hot--usually about 30 seconds for my hair. Oh, and I guess I do actually clamp it at the start to keep that part held and then just wrap the hair around. Doing this gets some body at the top of the head without getting it too curled. Does that make sense? If not, let me know and I'll see if I can try to explain it a little better!
